NFA names new gymnastics coach

Cindy Briggs, a 2011 graduate of Norwich Free Academy, has been named head gymnastics coach at her alma mater.

“Cindy is the right fit for our program,” said NFA Athletic Director Roy Wentworth. “She has the right combination of competition and coaching experience to help our team succeed.”

“I am excited to have this opportunity to coach at my alma mater,” said Briggs. “I have great memories competing for NFA, and I look forward to giving these student-athletes that same great experience.”

After graduating from NFA, Briggs competed at the collegiate level at the State University of New York, College at Brockport. She was a member of the 2012 Division III national championship team. In 2011, she was a member of the USA Gymnastics Level 9 Eastern National Team.

Her coaching experience includes serving as an assistant coach for three years at SUNY Brockport, as well as serving as head optional coach for the Brockport Junior Eagles.

The team’s first meet is January 10 against East Lyme and Old Lyme.
