Elizabeth A Peltier Parsons Scholarship
Elizabeth Peltier Parsons, or Betty as those close to her knew her, was born in Norwich, CT in 1933. Betty graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1951. While working at Dow Chemical in Gales Ferry, Betty married Vinson Parsons, who was stationed aboard the USS Nautilus in Groton. “Betty spoke fondly, and often, about her time at NFA.”, Vinson shared. “When it came time to update our estate plan in 1992, we felt it appropriate to recognize NFA for the experience and education she received there.”
The Parsons, both college graduates, felt their access to a strong education was the key to their path in life. Vinson shared “An unexpected scholarship was the only reason I was able to further my education and I grew up convinced that education is the key to success. Betty and I strongly believed that we could, and should provide the same opportunity for deserving NFA students.”
The Elizabeth A. Peltier Parsons Scholarship Fund was established in honor of Betty, Class of 1951, and will be awarded to academically achieving students pursuing their education at a four-year college or university.
The NFA Foundation is excited to announce this first recipient of this scholarship is Lorena Almanzar Tavarez '25.
